Background and Aim: In addition to medical care, psychological support is needed to treat depression in REHABILITATED CARDIAC PATIENTS.In this study we have compared the effectiveness of two different methods i.e. behavior-intervention and cognitive management in decreasing intensity of depression in REHABILITATED CARDIAC PATIENTS. Materials and methods: All CARDIAC PATIENTS who had undergone surgery Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) during 2005-2006 in Khatam-al-Anbia general hospital of Zahedan were included in the study. Sixty seven PATIENTS fulfilling the criteria for inclusion were divided randomly into three groups, each comprising of 15 PATIENTS, two groups as experimental and one group as control. We used dual therapeutic methods of behavioral management and cognitive management in the two experimental groups, no intervention was done in the control group and multi group dependent variables were defined as the degree of depression in REHABILITATED CARDIAC PATIENTS which was assessed by scale of light depression.Beck depression test was utilized for data collection for pre and post-tests; unilateral variance analysis (ANOVA) was used for data analysis. Results: The average score of depression in both test groups showed remarkable difference before and after intervention, whilst subjects in the control groups did not show any intervention. Cognitive method proved more efficient in lessening the intensity of depression. Conclusion: We can apply psychotherapeutic intervening procedures in order to enhance cure and improve to deal with psychological issues in such PATIENTS.

Abstract:

Basic life support (BLS) following by Advanced CARDIAC life support (ACLS) is intended to rescue the PATIENTS with acute circulatory or respiratory failure or both. The most important determinant of short and long-term neurologically intact survival is the interval from the onset of the CARDIAC or respiratory onset to restoration of effective spontaneous functions of these vital activities. It is commonly accepted that every physician, regardless of specialty, should be able to  perform CPR. It must be also emphasized that CPR, almost invariably, necessitates a rapid interventional follow-care with ACLS procedure.Without well-performed basic life support, advanced CARDIAC life support is of no remark-: able benefit, BLS and ACLS are processes that must be performed step by step and with respect to the patient's condition.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: Motor development is a continuous process throughout life. Hearing impairment in childhood may have significant effects on motor development. This study compared the motor development of normal-hearing and hearing-impaired children at early developmental ages. Methods: This research was a cross-sectional study. A total of 149 children aged six to eighteen months were selected and divided into three groups: normal-hearing children (NHC) (55 girls and 65 boys) selected by convenient sampling strategy, non-REHABILITATED hearing impaired children group (NRHIC) (11 girls and 13 boys) selected by purposive method, and REHABILITATED hearingimpaired children group (RHIC) (3 girls and 2 boys) selected by the census method. The Denver developmental screening test 2 (DDST-ll) was used to assess motor development. The obtained data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney U tests, and curve drawing. Results: The fine motor development of the NHC (9. 63±, 28. 83) was significantly greater than the RHIC (-18 ±, 26. 83) and NRHIC (–, 21. 25±, 30. 26) groups, but there was no significant difference between the RHIC and NRHIC groups. In gross motor development, the NRHIC (–, 32. 71±, 41. 26) group had a more significant delay compared to the NHC (13. 38±, 37. 73) and RHIC (0±, 21. 21) groups, but there was no significant difference between the NHC and RHIC groups. Conclusion: Hearing rehabilitation can partially compensate for the developmental delay in gross skills, but this compensation has not occurred for fine motor skills. The development of fine motor skills requires a precise synergy of small muscles and the nervous system.

Abstract:

Stiffness degradation and increase in vibration amplitude of cracked steel beams, cause to lose the efficiency of structure in service loads. Bonding CFRP laminates on tension flange is one of the rehabilitating methods of these beams. At present, finite element method is used to calculate the value of stiffness and strength of REHABILITATED beams. In this paper, a closed form formulation is presented for calculating stiffness of REHABILITATED beams. In this method, the stiffness of REHABILITATED beam is calculating based on the stiffness of perfect beam, stiffness of cracked beam, CFRP and adhesive properties and dimensions of structure. Cracked section of beam and reinforcing plate are modeled by an equivalent rotational spring. A procedure is proposed for calculating the stiffness of rotational spring. Formulation is studied in two categories of definite and indefinite beams, and implemented in two special cases of fixed and clamped beams. In order to verify proposed formulation, eighteen hypothetical specimens have been modeled by finite element method. Comparison of proposed formulation and F. E. results shows good agreement. Also another formula is suggested for practical applications by simplification of previous formulas. Simplified and accurate formulas results match very well. Using simplified formula, it’s not necessary to know the depth of crack to determine the size of reinforcing CFRP plate.

Abstract:

Six sampling sites were selected to represent different land use types in the REHABILITATEDand non-REHABILITATED areas of a recreational wetland in Sri Lanka to study the suitability ofmacrobenthic mollusc diversity to monitor spatial and temporal variation in physico-chemicalparameters of water and shallow sediments. Individuals belonging to six families and eight specieswere recorded during the study. The significantly highest mean abundance (individuals) of Bithyniatentaculata and Pila globosa were recorded in sites from the REHABILITATED area and there was nosignificant temporal variation of mollusc abundance during the study. The abundance and diversityof mollusc community showed significant spatial variations and this study identified thatB. tentaculata and P. globosa can be used as possible bioindicators to detect changes in water andshallow sediment quality in tropical wetland ecosystems

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: A major function of mangroves is carbon sequestration in sediment. This study aimed to determine differences in carbon content in sediments in various types of mangroves and environmental parameters.METHODS: This study was carried out in Pesawaran as a natural mangrove and in South Lampung as REHABILITATED mangrove in Indonesia. Purposive sampling method was used by considering the types of mangroves at the locations. Sediment sampling was taken using a polyvinyl chloride pipe with a diameter of 47.46 milimeters and a height of 30 centimeters. The sediment parameters measured were bulk density, carbon stock, and sequestration. Environmental parameters measured included sediment texture, potential of hydrogen, temperature, salinity, and total dissolved solids. A statistical analysis was conducted using the principal component analysis to determine the relationship between the organic carbon stock and the environmental parameters.FINDINGS: The study results showed that natural mangroves (Pesawaran) had a higher organic carbon value at 2.2 ± 0.32 percent than REHABILITATED mangroves (South Lampung) at 0.9 ± 0.25 percent. The principal component analysis results revealed that organic carbon, carbon dioxide equivalent, carbon stock, and carbon sequestration had positive correlation characteristics influenced by salinity, silt, and clay, while negative correlation characteristics were affected by temperature, total dissolved solids, and sand. The distribution of sediment texture tended to show more silt in REHABILITATED mangroves, while natural mangroves tended to have the same composition between sand and silt. The potential of hydrogen conditions in natural and REHABILITATED mangroves showed no significant differences in values. The salinity in Pesawaran, which was classified as a natural mangrove, was higher due to the influence of the tides and was directly facing the shoreline. Meanwhile, in South Lampung, which was categorized as a REHABILITATED mangrove, the salinity was lower due to the long dry season and the canals being unable to support the water entering the mangroves.CONCLUSION: The organic carbon content at the research locations was influenced by the older age of the Rhizophora stylosa compared to that of the Rhizophora mucronata and Ceriop tagal types of mangroves. The carbon sequestration rate values showed 1.65–3.14 for natural mangroves and 0.29–1.25 for REHABILITATED mangroves, thus establishing that the rate is higher (2–3 times) in natural mangroves than in REHABILITATED mangroves.
